DVM, MD, PhD
My name is Masuo Sueyoshi. I took a researcher position at National Institute of Animal Health in Japan, directly after graduating from the Department of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Miyazaki. I received my Ph.D. from Hokkaido University with a thesis on the theme of "Pathological study of swine dysentery (SD)." I also studied porcine proliferative enteropathy (PPE), which was important in differentiating SD symptoms. Later, in 1990, I started a study of Enterohaemorrhagic E. coli (EHEC) / Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC) in cattle suspected of having a reservoir in relation to the case of infection and death of a young child by EHEC O157. In addition, I studied porcine epidemic diarrhea (PED) outbreaks in 1995-1996 and 2013-2014 and sporadic cases of "porcine edema disease" with a high fatality rate. In recognition of the rapid diagnosis and the dissemination of the technology of PED to testing institutions, the Yujiro Fujisaki Award was awarded by the Japan Pig Veterinary Society. Also, I experienced foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) outbreaks and their epidemic control measures in 2000 and 2010 in Miyazaki Pref.. Currently, I am a professor at the Department of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Miyazaki in Japan. I am delighted to contribute to the livestock industry by researching hygiene for the health maintenance of livestock and educating students about it. I love traveling and hot springs. My hobbies are watching movies and playing tennis.

Chun-Ta Chen (Taiwan)
Director of Loving Kindness Animal Hospital, Taipei, Taiwan
Born in 1978, I have always enjoyed playing with animals, especially dogs and cats since I was a child. I always felt sad when I saw sick animals, which is why I decided to become an animal doctor with the support and encouragement of my parents. After completing my university studies, I did an internship at Loving Kindness Animal Hospital, where I witnessed the doctors' efforts to save lives. This experience motivated me to pursue a career as a veterinarian. After finishing my military service, I began working in a 24-hour emergency animal hospital, and despite the high-pressure environment, I did not feel tired at all. My only focus was to improve my skills quickly to save more lives.
In my career at Loving Kindness Animal Hospital, I spent 18 years of time working in the 24-hour emergency hospital. Starting as a resident, I worked my way up to become a chief physician and eventually the director of Loving Kindness Animal Hospital Taipei. During my time there, I developed a deep interest in cardiology and small animal ultrasound, both of which I believe are crucial in the field of emergency medicine. Working in a 24-hour emergency animal hospital has allowed me to gain valuable experience in assessing and treating various cases.
Since 2017, I have been invited as a lecturer to numerous study groups and veterinary medical associations in Taiwan and China. To date, I have given over 300 lectures and lessons on topics such as echocardiography, emergency medicine, and diagnostic ultrasound. I enjoy sharing my knowledge with others and seeing other doctors grow in their understanding. It gives me a sense of accomplishment to be able to share what I know with others. -
